 Hola, Aloha, and hello.  Welcome, friends, to the May edition of The Melismatics Official Newsletter.  As usual, we have a plethora (and we mean that in the best possible way) of activity to get you up to speed on.  So let’s get to it.

This month, we observe the 10 year anniversary of our first album, “Postmodern Rock” with a Deluxe Reissue and celebratory soiree in our hometown of Minneapolis/St Paul at The Amsterdam Saturday, May 5th.  We’ve got a stellar bill put together for the evening with BNLX, The Japhies, and Mayda. The album is available for the concentration camps research paper first time on iTunes worldwide with previously unreleased tracks including our brand-new single “Missing Years.” We will be donating 50% of all digital sales and $1 from each CD sold to Rock The Cause.

Songs from our latest album, Anglophiles) repeatedly on shows like MTV’s “Jersey Shore” and “Punk’d.”  Hey, what can we say.  We did it for the Snooki.

We have a number of live radio performances and interviews coming up this month, which you can read all about in the column to your left.  Tweet questions to the band during their Fearless Radio interview Thursday, May 17th at 4PM.  Go on, we dare you.

In other news, we will be releasing a brand-new vinyl single in the near future.  Hang on to those turntables and stay tuned for more details.

We’ve been on tour for the greater part of this past month, which included our shows at SXSW in Austin, TX with Minneapolis legend Tommy Stinson (you may know Mr. Stinson from The Replacements, Soul Asylum, and Guns N Roses).  We took our new van (which has been aptly named “Miss America” as we purchased her from the father of our current Miss Minnesota) for her maiden voyage on this tour.  She appears to be in tip-top shape.  We’ve also begun recording the follow-up to our latest album, MANIA! at Flowers Studio in Minneapolis.

Hello everyone, and welcome to The Official Melismatics March Newsletter…where you get the real scoop on all things Melismatic.  No lies, hearsay, or gossip here!
First of all, we’d like to thank everyone in our hometown of Minneapolis who came out for our recent sold out MANIA! Release Show at The Ritz Theater.    Check out photos and highlights of the night below.
This week we will be playing three shows at the largest US music event, SXSW in Austin, TX.  We will be playing
Lamberts Thursday 3-15-12 at 10:00PM, Dirty Dog Friday 3-16-12 at noon, and MOLOTOV Friday 3-16-12 at 5:15PM.
In the wonderful world of television, we’ve had songs from our new album MANIA! featured on “Jersey Shore” three weeks in a row.  Also, “Digging Deep” was recently featured on the ABC Family show customers essay “Jane By Design.”
MANIA! has been continuing to hit airwaves around the country and internationally.  Most recently, the legendary DJ and “Mayor of the Sunset Strip” Rodney Bingenheimer has added several MANIA! tracks to his playlist on KROQ.
We are also very excited to announce the 10-year-anniversary re-release of our first album “Postmodern Rock.”  This reissue will contain previously unreleased tracks and expanded liner notes.  It will be available for pre-order soon, so stay tuned for details.  We will be celebrating the re-release in our hometown of Minneapolis at The Amsterdam May 5th.  We will be doing other shows nationally in support of the anniversary as well.

We recently celebrated the release of MANIA! in our hometown of Minneapolis, MN at The Ritz Theater.  We had a fantastic time sharing the stage with great friends of ours and thanks to everyone who came out to support, the night sold out.  We’ve got some pictures to share with those who weren’t able to be there.  Jon Auer kicked off the night with a stellar acoustic set.  Sick of Sarah threw down in supreme definition essays on marriage fashion, and DJ Jake Rudh spun in style between sets.

Hello fine people of the world, and welcome to the February edition of The Melismatics Official Newsletter (not be confused with lame imitation newsletters).  Our new album MANIA! has just turned one month old, and we are here to get you up to speed on what’s happened since its release.

The conclusions for persuasive essays MANIA! Tour has been going splendidly and continues all year, so check out our tour dates below to see if we are coming to a venue near you.  We are particularly looking forward to playing our hometown of Minneapolis, MN (which we rarely get to do these days) for the MANIA! Release Party at The Ritz Theater Friday, February 24th. We have an absolutely stellar line up with Sick of Sarah, Jon Auer (of The Posies and Big Star who produced MANIA! with Ed Ackerson) and the Twin Cities hottest DJ, Transmission’s Jake Rudh.  Get your tickets for The Ritz Theater here. We highly recommend getting advance tickets for this event.

MANIA! debuted in the CMJ Top 20 Adds the week of it’s release at #11.  It has since been climbing the CMJ Top 200 (it just jumped up 30 chart positions this week!).  It’s also been getting lots of spins on specialty commercial radio making numerous charts.

The new video for the single “Divided Devotions” is here, and you can watch it below!  In this video our pet snake, who is lovingly named “Snake” makes his on-screen debut.

In other news, one of Ryan’s side projects, Coalition had a song, “Get Steady” featured on MTV’s “Battle of the Exes.”  Watch the episode here.

As usual, we’ve got a lot on the horizon; we begin tracking a new album later this month.  In March we will be playing at the world’s largest music event, SXSW in Austin, TX (3-15-12 @ Lambert’s 10:00PM and Green Room Day Party 3-16-12 @ Dirty Dog Noon).  The XMonroes  (collaboration between Tony Ortiz of The Monroes and The Melismatics) debut single will be out soon as well.

We are pleased to announce the release of our music video for the single “Divided Devotions.”  We’d like to thank Randy cover of research paper Smith who directed and shot the video and Lisa Smith who contributed her mad camera skills.

Jon Auer, who produced the track makes a special guest appearance in the video.  Watch for him in a tunnel of snakes surrounded by Pony clones.

In other news, “Digging Deep” will be featured in the upcoming ABC

Family show, Jane By Design which begins airing in 2012. We’ll keep you posted as to the exact date the episode airs.

Pony Up!, after being introduced to the world on shows like “Gossip Girl,” “Bad Girls Club,” “Real World,” and “Kourtney and Kim Take New York” finally makes a live show debut New Years Eve at 400 Bar in Minneapolis, MN with Sick of Sarah. There is a very high likelihood this show will sell out, so get your tickets now!

Also on the horizon is the 10-year-anniversary-remastered-re-release (whew!) of “Postmodern Rock” with previously unreleased tracks and a re-imagined track order. More details coming soon…

At long last, our upcoming album, “MANIA!” will be seeing the light of day– January 10th 2012. We will be celebrating the album’s entrance into the ether with Official Release Parties around the USA. Check our web sites as they are added to a venue near you.
We are very excited about this new album and all of the new musical territory it covers. You’ve come to expect the unexpected with The Melismatics, and this will be no exception. It was a
pleasure to work with such a fine group of people making this record including Jon Auer, Ed Ackerson, John Fields, Peter Anderson, Drew Lerdal, Chris Athens, Dan Wilson and many others.

Beloved friends of The Melismatics, hello and cheers! Planet Melismatics has been a very busy place since our last newsletter. We’ve recently returned from our most triumphant tour of Ireland, and we’ve got a brand-new single “Never Show Your Fear” under the moniker The Remmismatics (The Melismatics and Remma all rolled into one) to show for it. Check out our photos and highlights from Ireland below.
World-renowned mastering engineer Chris Athens at Sterling Sound in NYC has officially signed on to master our upcoming album, “MANIA!” He’s already been hard at work adding his magic touch, and we are elated with the results! Ryan and Pony’s new electronica/no-wave group DRA (Demon Rat Attack) have done a gotholicous remix of The Melismatics’ song “Divided Devotions” which will be available as a bonus track on “MANIA!” DRA has some exciting new projects coming up, and you can count on us keeping you in the loop.

In addition to the new album “MANIA!” seeing its completion and release this fall, we will be celebrating the 10-year anniversary of our first album “Postmodern Rock” with a remastered re-issue that contains previously unreleased tracks. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 10 years since we began recording the LP that started it all for cheap custom The Melismatics in our former guitarist Jeremy Ylvisaker’s (now guitarist for Andrew Bird and Alpha Consumer) mom’s basement! This album has been out of print for several years now, and it’s re-release will contain never-heard-before rarities.

There are many upcoming shows we are very excited about, so check out our tour dates and warn your friends of the impending danger in these cities! Once again, will be playing the largest music event in the world, Summerfest in Milwaukee 7-7-11 at 7:30PM on the Cascio Stage. Check out dates for our July West Coast tour and stay tuned as our East Coast tour dates are announced for October.

While in Ireland, we teamed up with our tour-mates Remma to form a 7-piece band called The Remmismatics. Our mission: entirely write and record a brand-new song within 24 hours. Mission accomplished. The result is “Never Show You Fear” which is now available world-wide on iTunes, Amazon, and most digital music stores.

The Pavillion (Cork, Ireland)Our tour of Ireland was an experience we will not soon forget. Ireland is a stunningly beautiful country and the people we met there were truly amazing! Those of you who follow us on Twitter and Facebook got to hear about the tour as it happened. We’ll recap

some highlights here.

Our first show (after nearly 2 straight days of no sleep) was in Dublin at Bono from U2’s venue The Workman’s Club. There we played with bonafide Irish indie-rock star Oliver Cole (lead singer/guitarist of the band Turn). We would play with these fine musicians for two acoustic sets at Bourbon Street, and at one of the most aesthetically pleasing theaters we’ve ever seen, The Pavillion (see photo above taken by Jerry O’Herlihy). The grand finale of the tour was The Melismatics headlining their own show at Cork’s top venue, Crane Lane Theater to a full house. The Melismatics received airplay from the major radio stations in Cork as well.

While in Ireland, we made Cool Daniel, a scenic farmhouse our headquarters. There we made friends with the sheep and mule who lived there…..no really, we did! We also had the chance to visit historic landmarks, castles, ring forts, custom essays paper and other local sites on our down time. Here are some of our favorite photos:

Hello and welcome to you, valued member of The college application essay ny times Melismatics’ circle of trust!  These are exciting times for The Melismatics indeed.  Our new album is fully-recorded and mixed, and the final stage of mastering is upon us.  In the meantime, we are giving you a “sneak peak” at the next single, “Lost The Feeling,” now through the end of May; visit our Facebook or Myspace page to listen now.  Don’t procrastinate, because after May it’s GONE!

 

We are excited to announce our upcoming Irish Tour, and West Coast tour dates for July will be posted soon.  We’ve also just been added into rotaion on MTV Latin America and on the US TV show “Video Jam.”  We’ll tell you all about it in the articles below! 

 

Also in the works are a new music video, The Melismatics Podcast, and several new side projects.  As always, we will keep you in the loop.       

 

THE MELISMATICS TOUR IRELAND

Last fall, we met Irish indie-rockers Remma in New York City and completed an East Coast tour with them.  Our bands formed an instant friendship and mutual respect, and now Remma is bringing The Melismatics to Ireland. 

 

Remma was first brought to the attention of the music world when

Morrisey proclaimed his admiration for their single “Worry Young,” and included it in the descriptive essay outline NME compilation of his all-time favorite bands, “Songs To Save Your Life.”   He then signed them to his label, Attack Records (Sanctuary).  Since then, they have been produced by The Cranberries’ Noel Hogan.

 

While on tour in Ireland, we will be doing radio and blog interviews, play some of the coolest venues in Ireland, and sampling the finest Guinness.  Check our sites as we will be posting photos and videos of the tour!

Our latest music video, “Your Love Is A Poison” has been added into rotation on MTV Latin America!  It’s been playing alongside new videos from the likes of Mumford And Sons, Interpol, She and Him, Hot Hot Heat, and more.  MTV LA reaches 22 countries, and has a viewership of 35 million people.

Our brand-new album is very close to being finished!  John Fields is currently doing a stellar job of mixing; we can’t wait to unleash the new material!
